VMI Overview
VMI stands for Vendor Managed Inventory. It is a partnership between the customer and supplier in which the supplier takes responsibility for maintaining an agreed inventory at the customer's business, replenishing stock on a set cycle, eliminating the processes traditionally handled by the customer’s purchasing and material handling departments. VMI is an efficient replenishment concept that focuses on improving the flow of products in the supply chain, from the supplier to the customer and eventually to the customer’s end consumer.
